The Roadmap to Sustainable Textile Printing
31 May 2022
According to the European Environmental Agency, textile has the region’s fourth largest climate impact, following only food, housing and transport industries. The average European throws away 11 kilograms of textiles every year. Everyone wears daily clothing or uses textile in every kind of way. Knowing that 93% of all textile printing is still done through analogue processes and only 7% digital, both technologies need to change to reduce their environmental footprint. Sustainability is critical across the entire supply chain of textile production, also in the textile decoration and finishing workflow. Many solutions and ideas are considered and this roadmap introduces the sustainability potential of changing the textile printing in the next two decades and beyond.
